MY BONES

From Wasteland  ·  2011

Listen

Lyrics

THIS IS OUR TIME AND SPACE
SO I GUESS WE ARE ALL RELATED
WE USED TO BE THE SAME
BUT NOW WE ARE ISOLATED
THERE IS NOT MUCH TO SAY
SO ALL I TRUST NOW IS MY BONES

ALL I'VE GOT IS MY BONES
ALL I NEED IS MY BONES
WHERE DID WE GO WRONG?

THESE TIMES OF DISBELIEF
OUR ROOTS HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN
WE ARE BEYOND REPAIR
SO NOW I CARE ABOUT MY BONES

I'M AFRAID TO ASK
IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR US?
I CAN'T SEE BEYOND THIS MESS
WE HAVE COME FROM THE SAME PLACE
BUT THE HOPE IS DYING
DO YOU THINK WE'LL OVERCOME THIS?

The Story

MY BONES is the last song on the Wasteland EP, our first release, which came out on October 24th 2011. Back then the band was called CRIMSON NOISE.

The song is older than the record. We played it at our very first show, on December 9th 2010 at Club Retro in San José, almost a year before the EP existed. We played that night with KEEP THE GAP, and there was live painting happening while we played, by SIANNY CHAVARRÍA and LUIS ORLICH from Bigote Producciones.

Once the EP came out, MY BONES got picked up by a rock radio station here in Costa Rica and got a lot of airplay. That station does not exist anymore. It was the first time our music reached people who had never seen us play, and that is where the band started existing in public.

We recorded it at Noize Lab Studio. MARCO produced it together with the band and TERI recorded it, and that is the first thing we ever released with the two of them working that way. TERI was not mixing yet back then, so MARCOS MONNERAT mixed the EP and ALBERTO ORTIZ mastered it at Jungle Sound Studio. Marco producing and Teri recording is still how this band makes records, and it is what our sound comes from.

The photography and the design were by ANDRÉS MONTERO at B2crea, and the logo was by ANDRE KELSO.

The lineup on that record is MARCO, JACOBO, TERI, DAVID PEÑA and ALFONSO PÉREZ. Those same five stayed together until 2019.

The EP is available exclusively on Bandcamp, on the old Crimson Noise page.
